Federica Pederiva
Federica Pederiva is a Consultant Pediatric Surgeon at the Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Integrata of Verona, Italy, with a special clinical and research interest in congenital anomalies, particularly congenital lung malformations. She led an international collaborative team that culminated in the publication of a landmark Nature Reviews Disease Primers article, “Congenital Lung Malformations” (Pederiva et al., 2023), reflecting her commitment to advancing the understanding and management of these complex conditions.
She has trained at leading institutions across Europe, including Madrid and Manchester, and holds an International PhD from the University of Madrid, where her doctoral research focused on congenital diaphragmatic hernia. She also completed a University
Master’s Degree in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Pediatric Surgery at the University of Bologna. Dr Pederiva is actively involved in the European Paediatric Surgeons’ Association, contributing to the Network Office and the Global Paediatric Surgery Committee, and fostering international collaboration in pediatric surgery. Outside the hospital and research setting, she is a keen tennis follower, especially when
Italian players are on court—go Sinner!—but with a genuine appreciation for Jack Draper.
