Professor Long LI
Professor Long LI, MD, PhD, Professor and Chief, Department of Paediatric Surgery, Capital Institute of Paediatrics, Beijing, China. He graduated from China Medical University in 1985. He completed paediatric surgical training and started his career as a full-time paediatric surgeon in Beijing Children’s Hospital in 1993. In 1996, he was supported by British Association of Paediatric Surgeons (BAPS) to attend the 43th BAPS meeting in Sheffield, and visit six top paediatric centers in UK after BAPS meeting. In 1999 and 2000, he was trained as Visiting Research and Clinical Fellow in Department of Paediatric Surgery, Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong University, and Juntendo University School of Medicine, Japan, respectively. Since 2001, Professor Li and his team developed a large paediatric laparoscopy network in China. He also established a paediatric liver transplantation network, and successfully completed the first paediatric liver transplantation in Beijing. He has contributed to more than 320 articles, 2 books, several book chapters and one set of laparoscopic videos.
Professor Li has special interests in paediatric hepaticobiliary surgery and minimally invasive surgery. He leads his team to accomplish more than 40,000 laparoscopic surgeries for children in past 17 years.
