Mr Ingo Jester, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon

Ingo Jester worked as a consultant in Germany and the Netherlands and started his current post at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital in 2008.
His special interests are neonatal surgery with specific emphasis on congenital diaphragmatic hernia as well as surgery for congenital colorectal conditions. He also undertakes non-transplant surgery for intestinal failure. He has been instrumental in introducing minimal invasive surgical at BWC.
His research covers areas in the field of surgical outcome in patients after non-transplant surgery, neonatal surgery (necrotising enterocolitis, Hirschsprung’s disease, anorectal malformation), and appendicitis.
He is member of the steering groups to develop measures in Children’s Surgery Outcome and an international core outcome set in Necrotising Enterocolitis.
