About us

BAPS had its inaugural scientific meeting in London in 1953.

Since then, the meeting has become an annual event and has been held in many locations both in the UK and overseas (you can see a full list here). Over time we have endeavoured to make the annual meeting important both for the scientific content and the social aspects, offering paediatric surgeons from around the world networking opportunities to meet and discuss work.

Until 2020 we had met continuously for 66 years. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic we postponed our 2020 meeting due to be Bruges, Belgium. So we are delighted to announce that our 69th Congress will take place in Bruges, 21-23 June 2023.

In recent years we have begun to include other colleagues in our meetings, and have support from Nurses, BAPU, BAPES and IPEG amongst others. Our 2017 congress was in association with the International Paediatric Endosurgery Group (IPEG), the International Society for Paediatric Wound Care (ISPEW) and the International Consortium of Bariatric Surgeons (ICABS). Our 2018 Congress was held jointly with the British Association of Paediatric Endoscopic Surgeons. PSNG organised a highly successful day for nurses and AHPs in 2019. In 2023 we will be association with our Belgian colleagues, BELAPS.

We are constantly looking at innovating to improve the delegate experience and are always happy to listen to feedback. Please contact us at [email protected].
